Dominic Boaz Makwa is an MA (Music, Ethnomusicology) candidate at Makerere University waiting to defend of his dissertation entitled: “ Makwa won the prestigious NORAD Arts and Cultural Education (ACE) scholarship to study a Master of Arts (Music, Ethnomusicology) both at Makerere University and University Bergen.
He graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelor of Arts (Music) Degree in 2006. Makwa also holds a Diploma in Education from the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo.
Makwa’s research interests so far include: ritual performance, music and gender, and popular music. He has presented a number of papers, and the most recent is one presented during the First International Symposium on Ethnomusicology in Uganda, hosted by Makerere University in November 2009.
Makwa is a music teacher, an adjudicator as well as a performer and a composer of music. Makwa is a fluent performer of music from Bugishu, eastern Uganda and has also performed with the Catholic Centenary Memorial Choir (CACEMCHO) and Cantoris Dei, both church music choirs.
